"Hi, how do you live stream from a mountain top?" Such a great question - big thinking calls for ambitious engineering.
That's why producers Cherryduck chose Limitless to deliver one of the most iconic live streams ever for The North Face.
The Pinnacle Project: Italy, featured an exclusive pop-up shop of coveted collector's items donated by some of the most iconic explorers of our time.
In true North Face explorer style, the pop-up shop was situated 2,055m up in the heart of The Dolomites mountain range.
To have a chance of winning these items, fans needed to either face the mountain or join the live-streamed auction.
Limitless live-streamed the spectacle for 6 hours to Facebook and OOTH digital billboards across the globe; all set against the backdrop of a spectacular mountain range.
Limitless were challenged with live-streaming the experiential event from the top of a mountain and worked closely with producers to design a lightweight,
robust and streamlined six camera rig with vision mixing and remote broadcast kit.
Limitless live-streamed over Ka-band satellite to Facebook Live and The North Face website; and beamed to giant LED digital billboard screens at Westfield shopping centres in New York, Tokyo, London and Milan.
The main hurdle was the mountain itself, a completely off-grid remote location.
Everything had to work at high altitude, in unpredictable weather conditions, over a long time period, and fit into a single helicopter flight.
Limitless were delighted to offer a bespoke fixed-rig package; including lightweight cameras, a mini broadcast kit, full power, and satellite streaming with complete redundancy.
The three experienced Limitless broadcast engineers on-site worked hard to rig, test and deliver a seamless live experience.
Limitless enabled The Pinnacle Project to broadcast live across the globe, delivering the ultimate pop-up to North Face fans on Facebook. This project remains The North Face's most iconic pop-up ever.
